Students need engaging practice tied to strategies, not rote memorization. Come prepared to shake, dance and learn activities that incorporate the use of our favorite math manipulative - a math shaker. This modified pill container filled with regular dice can be used to teach a wide range of concepts including: early numeracy subitizing, counting, operational fluency strategies including doubles, make 10, commutative and associative properties of + and X, mixed operations and mental math, place value to millions, decimals, multi digit operations. Each activity will start with a 30 sec. music break, then transition to a fluency activity. Student samples, journal writing ideas will be shared. Ideas are easy to differentiate so that all students have success. Can be used whole class, small group and i virtual teaching. Come prepared to Shake Rattle and Roll!
