Session Description: 

Did you know that canola is Canada’s oil and is a Canadian innovation? That Canada is the number one exporter of pulses like peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas in the world? Join Tara with Alberta Canola Producers and Debra with Alberta Pulse Growers in this interactive session to learn more about the significance of these commodities to agriculture in Alberta. We will also explore some of the common myths about canola and pulses and see how to add these great Alberta commodities to your curriculum. Get your taste buds ready to try some samples showcasing Alberta canola and pulses!
Who Is This Session For? 

This course is intended to assist CTS/CTF and junior high science teachers and has a focus in the following areas: FOD1070: Farm to Table, FOD1080: Food and Nutrition, FOD1040: Meal Planning, FOD1010: Meal Planning, Science 7B: Plants for Food and Fiber, Science 8B: Cells and Systems, FOD 2180: Vegetables and Fruits. CALM, upper elementary and junior high Health teachers may also find great value in this session.
