In Social Studies, sharing stories provides meaningful opportunities to bring history to life. This session will introduce stories, books, and resources to use in Grade 5 Social Studies (General Outcome 5.2: Histories and Stories of Ways of Life in Canada, and the associated specific outcomes), with ties to the other grades that cover similar periods and topics in history and geography. Through sharing stories, we can help our students to better appreciate the diversity of Canada's heritage, and provide students with opportunities to understand the dynamics of peoples, cultures, places, issues and events that are integral to Canada's history and contemporary society.
